FAQ’s

What if we’ve already tried therapy and it didn’t work?

That’s often when people find me. This work goes deeper than communication techniques or behaviour strategies—it addresses what’s underneath them.

What areas do you serve?

I am licensed to work in the province of Ontario. My office is located in Guelph, Ontario.

Can we do this work virtually?

Yes, as long as you have a computer with a camera that allows me to see both partners simultaneously.

Does my insurance cover this?

Many insurance companies cover this as Couples Therapy. However, each third-party policy is different, so check with your group insurance provider for services typically listed under Paramedical Services (I have a BSW and an RSW).

If you do not have private insurance or it’s not covered by your plan, fees are eligible as a medical expense on your Ontario Tax Return.

How do you handle conflicts or disagreements during sessions?

I view all behaviour through the lens of patterns. I don’t take sides, and there’s no judgment. I guide you to work through the underlying pattern that is driving the behaviour so you can find a healthier resolution.

Is there a wait list?

Because this work is intensive, I limit the number of couples I work with at any given time. So, at times, there may be a waiting list.

My partner is abusive. Will this help?

No, the abusive individual would require individual work to stop the abusive behaviour before entering couples work of any type. There must be emotional safety in the sessions, and that cannot be created in a situation where abuse is ongoing.

Will therapy help if there’s infidelity or trust issues?

As long as both people are open to sharing candidly, we can work through these patterns. There is zero tolerance for dishonesty during our sessions.
